Texture Detective Game for Kids
Investigate familiar textures with a collection of large, safe household objects. Children describe what they feel, compare two surfaces and try identifying an item without looking if they enjoy the challenge. There is no need for a blindfold, and anyone can choose to keep their eyes open throughout.
Let’s make it happen
- Lay out a few large, safe everyday items.
- Feel each and describe it: soft, smooth, fluffy or crinkly.
- Close your eyes if comfortable and guess an item by touch.
Grown-up note: Supervise play, check materials for age suitability and keep small parts away from younger children. Adapt the activity to your child’s abilities.
